SG UK Foundation
About the SG UK Foundation
The Societe Generale UK Foundation (SG UK Foundation) focuses it charitable activity on education and employability. We do this by funding several key strategic projects as well as providing matched donations to support Societe Generale employee fundraising and volunteering efforts.
The SG UK Foundation is an independent charitable entity set up in 1994. It is linked to the Societe Generale UK Group and has been funded by corporate donations and exceptional one-off donations of dormant assets, as well as receiving in-kind support. It is a registered UK charity (number 1039013) governed by a board of trustees made up of senior managers from across the bank and independent representatives. The SG UK Foundation Board meets regularly to oversee governance, strategy and operation.
The SG UK Foundation is not an open grant-giving body and does not accept unsolicited applications for funding but instead works in partnerships with charities that align with Societe Generale’s UK CSR strategy and Global Citizenship commitments and the SG UK Foundation’s charitable objects.

Helping to improve education and employment for young people through the Societe Generale UK Foundation Fund
Launched in April 2017, the Societe Generale UK Foundation Fund (SGUKF Fund) is a £600,000 five-year grants programme (approximately £130,000 a year) that seeks to improve education and employment opportunities for young people in communities that are located near Societe Generale offices and have some of the UK’s highest unemployed rates.
The fund awards grants of up to £15,000 to organisations supporting young people on their journey into employment, with a focus on those using innovative approaches in sports, arts and culture.

Supporting employment and the Third Sector in East London through collaborative volunteering
Since 2010, the SG UK Foundation has been working with East London Business Alliance on employability and capacity building projects in Hackney.
The latest project, Evolve, is launching this year and is a collaborative partnership between Linklaters, UBS, Societe Generale and the Societe Generale UK Foundation, delivered by ELBA. Through the sharing of employee volunteer time and skills, the project aims to build the capacity of community organisations working in the employment sphere and subsequently support residents who are facing significant employment challenges, particularly due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
