Celebrating Our Role As Worldwide Partner Of Rugby World Cup 2023

05/10/2023

On Wednesday 27 September, we took over East London Rugby Club, hosting a day of exciting activities to celebrate our role as Worldwide Partner of Rugby World Cup 2023 with our staff as well as the local community.

The day saw over 80 students from four East London schools joining our CSR Team and partner ELBA to participate in skills-building activities, using rugby as a powerful tool for education.

The sessions focused on decision making, strength, conditioning, speed, agility, and kicking technique, culminating in a small tournament where the students put their new skills into practise.

This was followed by a staff Touch Rugby Tournament in the evening. The event was packed full of friendly competition and even pitch-side support from England rugby legends Jonny Wilkinson, CBE, and Maggie Alphonsi, MBE.

Over 180 of our staff participated, raising funds for our UK charity partner Shelter. As well as matching the employee fundraising, the SG UK Foundation awarded a donation for every try bringing the total amount raised to £8,500 for Shelter.

Congratulations goes to Risk Rovers, representing Australia, who were our champions on the night, and to Touch of Class, representing Italy, who came second place and were also our top fundraisers.
